Jakarta tightens poultry regulation

The City Council endorsed Friday a bylaw to control poultry farming and distribution in response to avian influenza outbreaks in the city.

Speaking to reporters after the endorsement of the bylaw, deputy governor Fauzi Bowo said the issuance of the regulation was timely and that he hoped people would comply with it.

Avian influenza - situation in Egypt

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has announced two new human cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infection. The cases have been confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public Health Laboratory and by the US Naval Medical Research Unit No.3 (NAMRU-3).
