H5N1 infections reported in China, Vietnam, Egypt

Feb 26, 2008 (CIDRAP News) – Deaths from H5N1 avian influenza were reported today in two women, one from southern China and the other from Vietnam, as officials in Egypt announced that a 4-year-old girl has been hospitalized with an H5N1 infection.

Islamabad - Pakistani health officials on Sunday confirmed a new outbreak of bird flu at a farm outside the southern city of Karachi. It was the third outbreak of the H5N1 avian influenza virus in the Karachi area this month, but limited only to fowl that tested positive at one farm, and no humans were infected.

Young boy is 105th bird flu victim in Indonesia

Jakarta - A three year-old Indonesian boy from South Jakarta has died of avian influenza, putting the total fatality to 105 out of 129 cases in the hardest-hit country, health ministry said here.

Teenager becomes Indonesia`s 104th bird flu fatality

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A 16-year-old boy from Indonesia's central Java province died of the H5N1 strain of the avian influenza virus, bringing Indonesia's bird flu death toll to 104, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

The Indonesian health ministry said on it's website that the boy had fallen ill on February 3, and died a week later at the Moewardi hospital in the city of Solo, central Java.
